The Life Sciences Systems North America (NA) Vice President, Sales is a key member of the management team and will have primary responsibility for leading the sales, and business development for the ATS Life Science Systems (LSS) North American region. The LSS NA VP is responsible for achieving sales results and driving strategic sales and business development initiatives in partnership with the Global Sales VP and other members of the senior Life Science leadership team. The North American region includes Canada, United States, and Latin America. The North American region of ATS’ Life Science Systems is the key driver of Group revenue and profitability and is home to the Company’s largest and most resourceful facilities. Within this region, we work with many of the world’s most successful multinational customers in healthcare, computer-electronics, automotive and consumer products.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The LSS NA Vice President (VP) is accountable in five key areas:
The LSS NA Vice President has a number of specific responsibilities commensurate with the senior-level nature of this leadership position.
Sales, Business Development & Supporting Marketing Strategy
Structure:Create the structure to identify and create new opportunities for ATS systems and REM business within North America
Job Descriptions: Authorize job descriptions, competency development plans and annual business strategies for the North American sales team.
Policy: Support all corporate compliance policy which influences the performance culture and the behavior of individuals reporting into this function.
Training: Develop, implement and ensure adherence to sales and business development training processes and tools, including tactical pricing models and business opportunity analysis models.
Leadership: Lead and develop the sales and business development team to support sales and business development strategies in order to deliver exceptional results relative to our business plan; and is a role model for developing effective partnerships internally with VPs and the Global VP sales as well as externally with key customers and suppliers.
Safety: Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance.
Appraisals: Conducts performance appraisals on direct reports and produces succession candidates for the VP role using the ATS process.
Communication: Establish effective communication and reporting protocols within the organization in alignment with the business plan.
Forecasting, Budgeting and Achieving Results
Profitable Growth: Seek to achieve profitable revenue growth by increasing market share and building a sustainable industry leadership position within the automation market.
Planning: Leads the formulation of sales / business development / marketing plans and operating budget.
Standard Setting: Set measures including measures for reporting and contingency planning requirements for tracking performance within the region.
Forecasting: Track, consolidate, and communicate forecasts and results for the region to staff and LSS senior management.
ROI: Produce ROI in line with approved forecasts and budgeted expenditures.
Price: In regard to price, schedule, terms & conditions and other commercial issues, the LSS NA VP will operate within the parameters authorized by the LSS and corporate approval process.
Customer Satisfaction
Account Management: Work with the NA sales team to develop effective account plans and report regularly to the LSS senior team in reviewing the account plans.
Communication and Oversight: Support the NA sales team as appropriate with customer related issues whether for capex or services. Engage with the customer at their senior level in frequent quarterly business reviews.
Trends: Ensure North American trends are communicated to the LSS leadership team and are reflected in the ATS Strategy.
Customer Strategies: Drive the implementation of front-end customer strategies, including identifying and involving key customers in product development.
Voice of the Customer: The LSS NA VP is the voice of the customer within LSS and fosters enterprise-wide thinking to bring organizational objectives and practices in line with market needs.
Innovation: Train, educate, and support the NA sales team in promoting the full breadth of ATS technologies and collaborate with the other ATS LS group of companies to deliver unique differentiation that best positions ATS LSS for revenue growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The LSS Vice President of North American Sales is a senior position requiring a post- secondary education in sales, marketing, business or a related field combined with 15 years of direct sales experience, selling industrial automation products and related products or services. The VP must have a working knowledge of advanced manufacturing technology such as robotics, automation, tooling and manufacturing processes and a demonstrated track record of developing and effectively implementing sales strategies, business plans, forecasts and budgets, and achieving sales results. Also, the VP must have demonstrated hands-on experience in recruiting and leading a world-class sales organization, organizational design and process skills and be capable of reorienting or changing the sales organization to optimize market conditions. The VP must also have effective negotiation skills, representing the company’s long-term business strategy. The VP is also expected to have proven technical proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite and effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
