Surfside is a technology company providing the infrastructure, APIs, and software that businesses need to build custom ad platforms for personalized commerce, sponsored ads and full funnel media campaigns. We help retailers unlock new value to personalize, grow, and monetize their customer experiences while empowering brands and advertisers with a new performance channel to reach high-intent consumers when and where they purchase.

About the role :

Based out of our New York office or remote within North America, the VP, Retail Partnerships will be focused on driving product, growth and further monetization for our publisher, ecommerce and retail partnerships. In addition, this will include initiating relationships with potential partners, assessing business opportunities, and driving the agreements, integrations, and executions necessary to maximize the overall opportunity.

You will help shape our product roadmap, and partner with retailers to unlock the value of their customer data and onsite retail media inventory. Responsibilities include ownership of Surfside's retail media inventory and adoption as well as executive leadership of Surfside's strategic retail partnerships. You will manage a high-performing team, who handle the day-to-day monetization and partner management responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has experience creating and scaling technical solutions, having worked closely with retailers or at a retailer. We are looking for someone who thrives on having a significant impact and building new capabilities through partnerships and innovation. This role requires a self-starter with a passion for delivering results and strong interest in sales, strategy, marketing, analytics, and business development.

An expert knowledge and proven experience of Retail / Commerce Media and Digital monetization programs is essential.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage executive relationships at strategic retail partners.
• Identify and grow monetization opportunities and manage revenue growth for Surfside's partnership / retailer ecosystem.
• Enhance existing partners' productivity through strategic planning, consulting, and training / enablement sessions.
• Develop and implement programs that align with mutual strategic plans.
• Own and report on retailer revenue numbers, establishing monthly / quarterly business reviews to meet mutual objectives.
• Willingness to travel to meet with corporate contacts, retail managers / GMs, along with industry trade shows and in-market meetings.
• Foster best-in-class relationships with partners, becoming their trusted advisor across retail media, site optimizations, sales, pre-sales, marketing, consulting, and executive levels.
• Develop compelling business value propositions that encourage partners to advocate for Surfside solutions.
• Partner with product and commercial teams to develop a retail strategy and roadmap.
• Lead a high-performing team focused on retail solutions and partnerships.
• Champion the partnership experience while balancing with advertiser needs.

Professional Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (Master's preferred but not required).
• 15+ years of experience creating and building differentiated relationships with retailers.
• Track record of building and leading high-performing teams
• Experience defining strategy, managing and scaling new businesses.
• Digital media and retail expertise required
• Experience in optimization and monetization strategies for retailers within the Retail Media vertical
• Experience with contracts and vendor negotiations.
• Proven communication, questioning and listening skills in formal and informal settings.
• Comfort with fast-paced, dynamic working environment with shifting priorities.
• Ability to build excellent rapport with internal (Legal, Technical, Finance, Product, GTM) and external stakeholders; strong teamwork is a must.
• Must be comfortable with complexity and thinking on multiple levels of abstraction; demonstrated use of critical thinking techniques.
