Job description

The JPMorganChase Community Engagement team is hiring a Vice President, Relationship Manager to help advance key policy, business, and community priorities through engagement with influential third-party stakeholders. Stakeholders are civic and community partners shaping local and national dialogue on financial services issues (including consumer issues, small business, housing, workforce and economic development).

As a Vice President, Relationship Manager on the Community Engagement team in Corporate Responsibility, you will report to the Community Engagement Regional Executive for West Region and serve as the firm’s primary point of contact for influential stakeholders, including local policy organizations, advocates, grassroots and neighborhood organizations, and grasstops and civic groups. Working closely with internal colleagues from Government Relations, Global Philanthropy, Communications and lines of business, you will develop and drive strategies that build and sustain stakeholder relationships in support of the firm’s policy, business and community goals. You will deploy grants, host and sponsor events, and engage in conversations to share the firm’s views, seek other perspectives, and help shape the conversation among key people and organizations. Important to the success of this work will be an understanding of how large financial services companies affect the economy and they communities they operate in.

Job Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of influential third-party stakeholder relationships across Northern CA and/or the broader assigned region (portfolio may evolve as dynamics change).
  • Work cross-functionally (e.g., Global Philanthropy, Government Relations, Communications, and lines of business) to develop and design strategies in alignment with the firm’s priorities and proactively address issues raised by external stakeholders.
  • Partner with Government Relations and Policy Communications to develop and execute strategies that inform, educate, drive narrative change, and advance policy priorities most important to the firm.
  • Represent the firm at external events and convenings to foster relationships and advance strategic objectives.
  • Activate thought leadership through stakeholder-hosted events, sponsorships, and forums that provide platforms for firmwide storytelling and dialogue.
  • Design, organize, and host forums/events that promote dialogue and shared understanding between senior firm executives and key partners.
  • Manage an annual grant portfolio aligned with identified strategic focus areas and stakeholder strategy.
  • Conduct analysis to inform decisions on strategy and investments; ensure alignment through annual business planning.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in stakeholder management, government relations, grantmaking, and/or consumer and/or housing policy, particularly working in or with financial services companies.
  • Thought leadership and subject matter expertise on issues impacting the firm’s reputation and business operations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, considering multiple points of view.
  • Integrity and strong work ethic with high attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Creative, flexible, collaborative, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Office tools: PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, and others as needed.
  • Domestic travel, approximately once monthly or as needed.
