Job description

Description
Company Overview:

Vividion is a next generation biotechnology company based in San Diego that is leveraging its proprietary chemical proteomics platform to conduct proteome-wide footprinting of drug-protein interactions with unprecedented breadth and precision. Our technology allows us to screen, identify and optimize novel drugs that selectively bind virtually any protein, including proteins previously considered “undruggable”. Our pipeline and emerging programs reflect a matured and productive platform capable of delivering first in class drugs utilizing novel mechanisms of action (allosteric inhibitors, protein-protein interaction inhibitors, functional activators, degraders etc.) against undruggable targets in the oncology and immunology space.

We prize scientific excellence, creativity, team players and we are committed to continued innovation. We have worked hard to create a collaborative and dynamic work culture where your ideas and discoveries are valued and will have an impact. We are growing and there are opportunities for mentorship and career progression.

Vividion has been recognized as a Top Workplace by The San Diego Union-Tribune from 2022 to 2025.

Job Summary:

The VP, Product Team Leader (PTL) serves as the single point of accountability for the integrated strategy, decision process, and execution of assigned pipeline assets. Chairing the Product Team, this leader guides programs from development candidate and IND-enabling activities through clinical proof of concept.

The PTL translates scientific, clinical, and commercial opportunities into a differentiated global product strategy and an execution-ready Integrated Development Plan. Working through empowered functional leaders, the PTL aligns scope, timelines, investment, evidence generation, and key inflection points with corporate and portfolio priorities. The role owns the integrated decision process while respecting the decision authority and technical accountability of Clinical Development, Medical, Regulatory, CMC, Safety, Clinical Operations, Biometrics, Translational Science, Commercial, and other functions.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Value Creation
  • Define the asset vision, target product profile, and value proposition by integrating patient need, scientific rationale, competitive landscape, regulatory opportunity, access, and commercial potential.
  • Lead indication prioritization, development scenarios, and investment choices, and establish a clear path to proof of concept with an initial view toward registration, commercialization, and lifecycle management.
  • Adapt strategy as the scientific, clinical, regulatory, and market landscape evolves while preserving optionality and asset value.
Product Team and Decision Leadership
  • Chair a Product Team of empowered leaders across relevant research, development, medical, operational, commercial, legal, and finance functions.
  • Build an inclusive, high-accountability team culture that supports rigorous debate, transparent communication, timely execution, and collective ownership of program outcomes.
  • Clarify decision rights and escalation pathways, and lead integrated decisions with clear owners, criteria, options, tradeoffs, timing, and execution plans.
  • Lead program risk management, scenario planning, contingencies, and escalation of material changes to the appropriate governance forum.
Clinical Development and Evidence Generation
  • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Development leadership, and the Clinical Development Lead to ensure clinical plans are scientifically rigorous, medically appropriate, feasible, and differentiated.
  • Guide protocol strategy, cohort and indication sequencing, proof-of-concept criteria, dose and regimen decisions, biomarker strategy, data-readout planning, and interpretation of emerging evidence.
  • Ensure cross-functional readiness for key milestones, including IND/CTA, first patient dosed, cohort expansion, recommended Phase 2 dose, proof of concept, later-stage development, filing, and launch, as applicable.
  • Participate in key health authority interactions and maintain alignment among regulatory strategy, clinical evidence, CMC readiness, and commercial objectives.
Execution and Resource Stewardship
  • Partner with Program Management to maintain the integrated plan, critical path, decision calendar, risk register, governance cadence, and readiness packages.
  • Develop and defend program budgets and resource requirements, evaluate time-cost-risk tradeoffs, and ensure execution within approved scope and investment.
  • Identify cross-program dependencies and constraints, resolve conflicts with functional and portfolio leaders, and recommend enterprise-level tradeoffs.
  • Drive operational excellence, quality, inspection readiness, and compliance with applicable global requirements.
Education and Experience:
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent) required.
  • 15+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, with substantial leadership of complex development programs.
  • Demonstrated drug-development leadership, including expertise in tumor biology, translational strategy, and the competitive landscape.
  • Proven success executing global development strategies from early development through proof of concept and participating in major health authority interactions.
  • Exceptional executive communication and business acumen, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and present clear recommendations to senior leadership.
Pay & Benefits:

The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $275,000 to $320,000 depending on relevant skills, competencies, experience, and education. In addition, this position is eligible for target bonus, long-term-incentives, 401k retirement savings plan with company match, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
