Job summary

Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement & Contracting to build and lead CPV Renewable Power's procurement function. You will develop strategies, oversee major equipment supply and EPC contracts, manage key supplier relationships, and align commercial terms with project cost, schedule, quality and risk objectives.

Based in the Braintree, MA area with a remote-friendly posture, you will partner with Development, Engineering & Construction, Finance and Legal,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, supply chain, business, finance or a related field; an MBA, JD or relevant professional certification is preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive procurement, contracting, supply chain or project commercial management experience in the power, renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure or another capital-intensive industry
• Significant experience supporting utility-scale wind, solar, battery storage, substations, transmission or major power equipment is strongly preferred
• Proven leadership responsibility for procurement, contracts or commercial personnel and experience building or scaling a procurement and contracting function
• Experience working with project-financed assets, lender requirements, domestic-content and tax-credit considerations, trade compliance, logistics and supply-chain traceability is preferred
• Working knowledge of procurement, contract-lifecycle-management, enterprise resource planning and data-analytics systems

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement and contracting strategies aligned with CPV’s renewable project development, investment and construction schedules
• Lead competitive sourcing and contract award for major equipment, EPC and balance-of-plant construction and other critical project services, with particular focus on long-lead and high-value commitments
• Lead negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements, working with Legal and internal subject matter experts to achieve competitive commercial outcomes and appropriate allocation of project risk
• Maintain senior relationships with OEMs, contractors and strategic suppliers while monitoring market conditions, supplier capacity, logistics, trade developments and other risks that may affect project cost or schedule
• Establish effective procurement and contract administration processes, approval requirements and reporting, and recruit and develop the team required to support CPV’s growing portfolio
• Oversee post-award commercial administration, including contractual obligations, notices, milestone payments, securities, changes, claims, warranties and closeout
• Drive supplier accountability and support project teams in resolving performance issues and disputes while preserving CPV’s contractual rights
• Provide clear and timely updates to Senior Management and represent CPV in key supplier, project, investor and lender discussions

CPV is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement & Contracting to establish, lead and continuously improve the procurement and contracting function supporting CPV Renewable Power. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, leading the negotiation of major equipment supply and construction agreements, managing key supplier relationships and ensuring that CPV’s commercial commitments support project cost, schedule, quality and risk objectives.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Engineering & Construction and will work closely with CPV’s Development, Engineering & Construction, Finance, Legal, Tax, Insurance, Asset Management and Energy Management teams. The role will support projects from development and investment approval through construction, commissioning, final completion and commercial closeout. The successful candidate must be a self-directed and commercially minded leader who can balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be able to move comfortably between portfolio-level strategy and hands-on deal execution, communicate clearly with senior management and build effective relationships with original equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors and other service providers.

Requirements

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including contract risk allocation, project cost drivers and the effect of commercial terms on project economics
• Proven ability to analyze complex issues, identify alternatives and drive practical solutions from strategy through execution
• Demonstrated success leading teams and collaborating across engineering, construction, development, legal, finance and asset management functions
• Excellent negotiation, communication and organizational skills, with the executive presence to work effectively at all levels of CPV and with senior supplier and contractor representatives
• Professional judgment and conduct consistent with CPV’s values, including integrity, transparency and honesty
• Ability to travel as necessary and successfully complete CPV’s pre-employment background and financial credit review
• Ability to travel 25-40% as necessary to project sites, supplier facilities, industry events and CPV offices.
• Must pass a pre-employment background and financial credit check

Experience

Location

Strong preference for the position to report to Braintree, MA office, with consideration for a remote-friendly working arrangement consistent with business and department needs.

Compensation

The base annual salary range for this position is $215,000 - $250,000 in the Company’s good faith estimate. The actual base salary for this position will be contingent upon individual experience, role responsibilities, and office location.

In addition to base salary, this position allows additional compensation and benefits, including:

• an annual discretionary bonus up to 45%, fully contingent based on individual and company performance,
• paid time off (PTO) of 160 hours per year, hours earned monthly, and up to 13 company paid holidays, and
• group benefits: 100% company paid medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 100% company match up to 6%, life insurance, short-and-long term disability, parental leave, and flexible spending accounts.

The base annual salary range may be modified in the future.
