A leading company in IT consulting seeks a strategic Vice President of Operations to lead its Department of Defense (DoD) technology consulting practice. This role demands an executive-level leader who excels in client engagement and delivery excellence while overseeing a high-performing team. Summary: We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Vice President of DoD IT Consulting to lead and grow our Department of Defense (DoD) technology consulting practice.
This executive-level leader will drive client delivery excellence, manage high-impact digital transformation programs, build strong relationships with senior DoD stakeholders, and spearhead business development efforts in emerging technologies and mission-critical IT services.
Duties & Responsibilities: 1.
Practice Leadership: Lead and scale a high-performing consulting team delivering IT strategy, enterprise architecture, cloud migration, cybersecurity, and digital modernization for DoD clients.
2.
Client Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior defense officials, shaping technology roadmaps and ensuring mission-aligned, outcomes-driven solutions.
3.
Growth Strategy: Drive growth in the DoD portfolio through pipeline development, strategic partnerships, and capture of large-scale government contracts (IDIQs, GWACs, SBIRs, etc.).
4.
Program Oversight: Oversee delivery of major programs, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with DoD acquisition and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, RMF, CMMC).
Ensure compliance with all DoD regulations and standards.
5.
Team Development: Mentor, recruit, and retain top IT consulting talent with security clearances and domain expertise.
6.
Market Intelligence: Monitor defense tech trends, policy shifts, and budget allocations to inform strategic investments and client offerings.
7.
Direct oversight of all facets of the business including; General Manager, Business Development, People & Culture and Finance 8.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational goals with the company’s strategic objectives.
9.
Responsible for P&L.
Minimum Requirements: 1.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field (Master’s preferred).
2.
Experience: 15+ years in IT consulting with at least 8 years in mid-sized DoD or federal government engagements; prior executive leadership required.
3.
Clearance: Active Secret clearance, TS/SCI.
4.
Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of defense technology ecosystems – including cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure IL5+), DevSecOps, zero trust architecture, and AI/ML applications in defense.
5.
Leadership: Proven experience managing P&L, leading multidisciplinary teams, and building client relationships.
6.
Business Development: Demonstrated success in winning multimillion-dollar contracts and leading capture efforts within the DoD/Federal market.
7.
Experience supporting specific agencies such as DISA, DCSA, DoD CIO, Army Futures Command, or CDAO.
