Job summary

Our client is a family-owned building materials dealer with more than a century of history serving professional builders, remodelers, and contractors. With approximately $100 million in revenue and more than 125 employees, the organization has built its reputation on deep customer relationships, specialized product expertise, and a high-end, specialty-driven product mix that includes historic restoration millwork and premium exteriors.

With a second design center in development and an expanding presence in the multifamily market, the company is entering an important stage of growth.

The Opportunity

This is the senior operations seat in a growing, well-respected business. Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the executive leadership team, the Vice President of Operations will own the full operations P&L across yard operations, internal and external logistics, and fleet maintenance, leading four department managers and their teams. With purchasing handled elsewhere, the focus is squarely on building an operation that can scale.

With growth already underway, this leader will shape the operating model, capacity, and infrastructure behind the company's next chapter rather than inherit a finished playbook. Ownership is ready to invest in change and wants someone to lead it, from modernizing ERP, logistics, and fleet systems to elevating day-to-day performance across the operation.

What You Will Need to Be Successful

• A history of hiring, coaching, and promoting strong operations leaders, with managers who have grown under your leadership
• Experience establishing a clear vision and holding an organization to consistent standards of performance and conduct
• Credibility as an enterprise leader, comfortable influencing peers, advising ownership, and representing the company externally
• Senior leadership of a multi-function distribution or logistics operation within building materials or a related industry
• Measurable results from process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Strength in long-range planning, capacity modeling, and building cost structures that scaleA hands‑on, visible leadership style, paired with the discipline to manage through clear metrics
• A proven record of leading lasting organizational change, including winning over skeptics and reallocating resources quickly
• Experience implementing operational technology, from hands‑on execution to full-scale rollout, plus strong digital fluency
