national warehouse storage systems and automation integration installation company

The opportunity
Our client is one of the fastest-growing installation companies in the US. They put in warehouse and distribution infrastructure for some of the biggest names in retail, e-commerce and consumer goods: ASRS, conveyance, sortation, specialty systems, and automation. They have roughly 900 people, crews working in all 50 states, and several recent acquisitions.
They’re hiring a Vice President of Operations to take a strong, entrepreneurial company and build the systems, leadership bench and discipline it needs to scale. This is a chance to shape a national field organization while it’s still being built.
What you’ll own
- Leadership of all field operations across every service line and acquired business: project delivery, field supervision, scheduling, labor and equipment.
- Folding acquired companies into one operating model, with one safety culture, one set of processes, one set of KPIs and one customer experience.
- Building a mobilized workforce that scales: crew planning, travel and per diem logistics, subcontractor management, and recruiting and retaining installers and foremen.
- Raising the safety program from compliant to world-class (OSHA, EMR, TRIR, site-specific safety plans, customer site requirements).
- Running on numbers: project margins, labor productivity, schedule performance, rework and punch-list closeout, change orders.
- Working with sales and estimating so jobs are scoped, bid and handed off to the field cleanly.
- Building and coaching the next layer of leaders: regional managers, project managers and superintendents.
- Being the senior operator Fortune 100 customers trust on their most critical, time-sensitive projects.
What you bring
- 10+ years in field operations leadership, including senior-level ownership of a multi-site or national operation. Backgrounds in construction, installation, industrial services or material handling are a strong fit.
- A track record of scaling an organization through rapid growth, and ideally through acquisitions or integration.
- Deep familiarity with mobilized field crews: travel crews, union and non-union labor, subcontractors, and the logistics of putting the right people on the right job at the right time.
- Strong financial acumen: P&L ownership, job costing, WIP, margin management.
- A safety-first mindset with evidence to back it up.
- Experience with warehouse and distribution projects (rack, dock equipment, conveyor, automation) is a big plus.
- A hands-on, high-standards leadership style. You’re as comfortable on a jobsite as in a boardroom.
Why this role
- A seat at the leadership table of a company in true high-growth mode.
- Real authority to build the operating model, not just maintain it.
- Blue-chip customers and a project pipeline most competitors would envy.
- Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and benfits.
