We are driven to improve our energy infrastructure by developing and operating power generation facilities using cutting edge, domestically available natural gas and renewable power technology. CPV is owned by OPC Energy, the first privately held electric company in Israel. OPC Energy became a public company in August 2017 and is traded on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE: OPCE).

CPV is seeking a Vice President of Tax to join our Accounting team in Silver Spring, MD. CPV manages a complex holding company structure, along with wholly‑owned and joint‑venture interests in utility‑scale power plant projects across the U.S. The VP of Tax will serve as the senior tax leader for the organization, with primary responsibility for developing and executing CPV’s tax strategy, overseeing tax compliance and provision work, leading tax‑related M&A and due diligence initiatives and providing hands‑on technical guidance across federal, state, local, and international tax matters. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in international taxation, cross‑border structuring, transfer pricing considerations, withholding tax, US and foreign tax reporting, and tax implications of multinational ownership structures. CPV must conform to public company reporting standards and financial controls pursuant to SOX.

This individual will own the tax function at a strategic and hands‑on level, directly leading complex tax analyses while effectively managing outside tax advisors. This position is responsible for timely and accurate quarterly and annual tax compliance, tax provision, tax planning, and tax reporting processes, including close coordination with the financial reporting and ownership representative teams. The VP of Tax will be expected to review technical tax positions in detail, identify risk areas, support business transactions and growth initiatives, and translate complex tax matters into clear recommendations for senior management.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will work closely with the Controller, CFO, Accounting leadership, Legal, Development, Asset Management, Treasury, and other senior stakeholders across the organization.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Lead the company’s tax function, including federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, planning, reporting, controls, and risk management for holding companies, project companies, and managed projects.
  • Own the quarterly and annual tax provision process, including review of tax accounting positions, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, deferred taxes, and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership for tax forecasting, cash tax planning, estimated tax payments, and tax modeling for operating assets, development projects, acquisitions, divestitures, and financing transactions.
  • Manage outside tax advisors, while maintaining internal ownership of technical conclusions, deliverables, timelines, documentation, and tax risk assessments.
  • Lead international tax matters, including cross‑border structuring, withholding tax, transfer pricing support, foreign reporting obligations, treaty analysis, tax implications of intercompany arrangements, and coordination with parent‑company reporting requirements.
  • Oversee any tax notices, audits, inquiries, and examinations, including management of supporting documentation and communications with taxing authorities and advisors.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve tax policies, procedures, documentation standards, data retention practices, and SOX‑compliant controls.
  • Serve as a senior tax advisor on business planning, entity structuring, tax‑equity, project development, financing, M&A and other strategic growth activities.
  • Work hands‑on with tax workpapers (creation and review), SAP data, Excel models, and advisor‑prepared deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Responsible for providing effective leadership to the Tax organization, fostering a high‑performance culture, and ensuring the continued growth, development, and engagement of team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related business discipline required; advanced degree in Tax, Accounting, Law, or related discipline preferred.
