Job summary

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc. (CPV) seeks a driven candidate to lead development, execution, and management of greenfield natural gas, hydrogen, and carbon capture projects in the US. The role is based in Braintree, MA and reports to the Senior Vice President, Development.

Responsibilities include planning development, negotiating agreements, managing permitting, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to financial close and successful execution.

Qualifications

  • Energy project development experience with full lifecycle, including financial closing.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Self-starter, organized, able to work with personnel at all levels; strong facilitation skills.
  • Strong financial modeling skills: NPV/IRR analysis.
  • Understanding of real estate matters and related complexities.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex information; effective problem solving.

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc. (“CPV”), with headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, and offices in Braintree, MA and Sugar Land, TX, is uniquely positioned to leverage global technology and financial partnerships to help modernize America’s power generation. We are driven to improve our energy infrastructure by developing and operating power generation facilities using cutting edge, domestically available natural gas and renewable power technology. CPV is owned by OPC Energy, the first privately held electric company in Israel.

CPV is looking for a driven and experienced candidate to contribute to the next wave of reliable and dispatchable power generation development in the US. The successful candidate will play a leading and active role in the project management, execution, and development of greenfield natural gas fired generation , hydrogen production and carbon capture projects. Candidate must be self-motivated and be willing to take initiative to complete project elements on time and on budget, and have an understanding of what it takes to successfully develop large utility or energy projects. Knowledge of US power markets, knowledge of ISOs and their operating rules and familiarity with incentives driving energy development is required. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are also required.

The position is based in Braintree, MA and reports to the Senior Vice President, Development.

Summary Of Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute development for identified projects
  • Negotiate necessary development agreements
  • Manage the permitting process and anticipate and resolve other project development activities required
  • Develop local community support for the project
  • Manage relationships and develop commercial agreements with potential project output off-takers
  • Execute title curative efforts in coordination with external consultants, insurance agencies, third party stakeholders and internal resources
  • Direct external consultants and coordinate with internal departments including engineering, finance, energy management/origination, external affairs, legal and asset management
  • Participate in and manage financial closing workstreams, including management of external consultants (e.g. independent engineer, etc.), due diligence support and bank presentation participation
  • Administrative responsibilities to include regular updates to Management on project progress, action items, budget and schedule
Requirements
  • Relevant energy project development experience with a proven track record of completion through the full development lifecycle, including financial closing
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and able to work well with personnel at all levels in the organization; must possess top level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Strong financial skills and understanding of company and project profit and loss, pro forma modeling, and NPV/IRR analysis
  • Possess a strong understanding of real estate matters and complexities
  • Ability to gather, organize and systematically analyze complex information
  • Effective problem-solving skills: ability to work from concept to analytics, identify alternatives and develop unique solutions
  • Excellent writing, communications, presentation, interpersonal, problem-solving, financial analysis, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and financial credit check
Compensation

The base annual salary range for this position is $160,000 – $225,000. In good faith, this range includes the minimum to maximum salary range for this position. The actual base salary for this position will be contingent upon individual experience, role responsibilities, and office location. In addition to base salary, this position allows additional compensation and benefits, including:

  • an annual discretionary bonus, variable based on individual and company performance,
  • accrued paid time off (PTO) of 120 hours per year, and up to 13 company paid holidays,
  • group benefits: 100% company paid medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 100% company match up to 6%, life insurance, short-and-long term disability, parental leave and flexible spending accounts.

The base annual salary range may be modified in the future.
