The Vice President of Sales, Public Sector State & County is responsible for Medicaid growth opportunities that may be nationwide or geographically prescribed as needed. Markets may include direct to state/county or internal support of United Healthcare Community and State health plans. The individual will be responsible to identify relevant opportunities and execute winning sales efforts for behavioral health and specialty medical solutions and networks. Will leverage a large matrixed organization to achieve annual revenue goals. Will function in a direct sales role to achieve individual revenue goals.

If you are located in Midwest to West, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follows each sales opportunity from pre-planning through full disposition
  • Works hand in hand with internal stakeholders to develop solutions for behavioral health needs
  • Guides product/operations resources to understand needs and implement programs
  • Attends and presents at national conferences
  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with community/stakeholder organizations
  • Builds strategic business relationships with key influencers and community institutions
  • Collaborates with sales and marketing to translate strategies into initiatives
  • May work with finance on potential acquisitions and alliances
  • Provides leadership and is accountable for performance across management layers

Rewards and recognition are based on performance, with clear success metrics and development opportunities.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in Medicaid
  • Experience with community non-profits and organizations
  • Experience with State or County Medicaid Mental Health or IDD agencies
  • Expertise in healthcare programs in Medicaid, including state and local levels
  • Proven success in public sector business and sales or related fields
  • Strong relationship-building skills within healthcare systems and marketplace
  • Contacts with state/local officials and consultants to identify opportunities
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment and collaborate across departments
  • Proven ability to drive opportunities between $10M - $300M
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% or more)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with complex RFPs
  • Behavioral health background
  • Track record of growth in similar environments
  • Adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy if remote

The salary range is $90,000 to $195,000 annually, with potential bonuses based on sales performance. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentives, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions. Compensation depends on various factors including location, experience, and education.
