Your Opportunity to Lead

Liberty Military Housing is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Vice President of Risk Management to lead the evolution of our enterprise-wide risk management strategy.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this highly visible executive role offers the opportunity to transform risk management beyond traditional insurance and claims oversight into a proactive, strategic business function. You will help shape enterprise strategy, strengthen organizational resilience, protect company assets, and drive financial recovery and loss prevention across our national portfolio.

We are looking for more than a technical risk management expert. We seek a collaborative, business-minded leader who can turn complex risks into actionable strategies, build strong partnerships, and inspire a culture of prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Lead
  • Enterprise Risk Strategy: Lead and advance Liberty’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, identifying and mitigating operational, financial, legal, safety, and strategic risks.
  • Insurance & Risk Financing: Direct commercial insurance programs, coverage strategies, renewals, negotiations, and innovative risk financing initiatives to optimize protection and cost effectiveness.
  • Claims, Subrogation & Financial Recovery: Oversee complex claims, litigation support, third-party subrogation, contractual indemnification, and recovery strategies that minimize financial losses and protect company assets.
  • Operational Risk & Safety: Partner with regional and national operations to strengthen safety programs, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and accountability while supporting an exceptional resident experience.
  • Catastrophe Preparedness & Business Continuity: Develop strategies to address natural catastrophes, major loss exposures, emergency response, and business continuity across a geographically diverse portfolio.
  • Strategic & Financial Leadership: Partner with executive leadership to evaluate enterprise risks, optimize risk financing, and provide data-driven insights that support capital investments, operational decisions, and long-term business performance.
  • Leadership & Organizational Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing risk management team while fostering collaboration, continuous improvement, and a proactive risk management culture.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance, claims, or a related discipline, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise risk management initiatives within large, complex, multi-location organizations.
  • Extensive expertise in commercial insurance, property and casualty programs, claims management, subrogation and recovery, loss prevention, and risk financing.
  • Strong understanding of contractual risk transfer, indemnification, third-party liability, and financial recovery strategies.
  • Exceptional business acumen, analytical capabilities, negotiation skills, and executive presence.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership, build collaborative partnerships, and translate complex risks into practical business solutions.
  • Professional designations such as ARM, CPCU, CRM, or comparable risk management credentials are highly desirable.
  • Experience within large residential real estate portfolios, single-family or multifamily housing, REITs, hospitality, or other asset-intensive industries preferred.
