VICE PRESIDENT OF PHILANTHROPY

Full Time Omaha, NE, US


Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $150,000.00 Annually


The Vice President of Philanthropy (VPP) is responsible to lead fundraising, donor relations, and charitable giving strategies, including annual campaigns, major gifts, recurring gifts, grants supervision, and capital campaigns. The VPP also collaborates on marketing, public relations, community engagement, and strategic partnerships as they relate to fundraising. The VPP is a senior member of the Leadership Team and works closely with its members in the development and communication of the VNA/Easterseals mission, vision, and strategic plan. The ideal candidate is a strategic, visionary thinker who serves as the CEO’s top philanthropic advisor and works with internal and external constituencies to build a culture of philanthropy that goes beyond transactional fundraising to build lasting relationships.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develops and updates a fundraising strategy that address the needs of the Agency and the people served through its mission.

  • Establishes performance measures and data tracking methods, monitors results, and collaborates with the Leadership Team and board to evaluate the effectiveness of the Agency’s fundraising plan.

  • Implements all giving programs that benefit the Agency including:


Annual Campaigns, Events, Grants Supervision


Major gifts,Capital Campaigns



  • Interacts with members of the Visiting Nurse Board of Directors and Fund Development Committee, facilitating their involvement in the planning and implementation of resource development and marketing activities.

  • Establishes strong relationships with the donor community.

  • Leads engagement of board, staff, and leadership in fund development and strategic partnership plans and clearly identifies their roles and responsibilities.

  • Works closely with the marketing, fund development, and business development teams, developing awareness and communication that impacts donors, community members, collaborative partners, employees, and clients.

  • Partners with the marketing team to preserve accurate usage of and fidelity to established branding materials (such as organizational logos).

  • Develops and maintains relationships with all Agency management and VNA staff and acts as a team member on inter- corporate teams.

  • Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication throughout the Agency and community as it relates to resource development.

  • Ensures the donor information/management system is effective, accurate, and used strategically to support development goals.

  • Contributes to employee satisfaction through positive interactions and professionalism.

  • Promotes the growth of VNA by representing the organization, its mission, and its role in the community in a professional manner.

  • Promotes partnerships and collaboration with other community agencies/institutions.

  • Shares responsibility for the development of the strategic plan in concert with the mission and values of the Agency.

  • Researches and analyzes changes in donor and prospect activity; adapts accordingly.

  • Ensures all fundraising activities follow legal standards and best practices.

  • Collaborates with the CEO and Leadership Team to identify, develop, and implement revenue producing strategies that help to counterbalance fundraising.

  • Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as appropriate for the position. Complies with all policies and procedures of the agency, including those specified in the employee handbook.

  • Shares responsibility for the achievement of Agency goals with the Leadership Team.

  • Shares responsibility for overseeing budget preparation and fiscal management, especially as it pertains to the Visiting Nurse Foundation.

  • Works with internal and external constituencies to build a culture of philanthropy that goes beyond transactional fundraising to build lasting, fruitful relationships rooted in a shared vision.

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities listed herein, as well as other duties that may be assigned.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree in art or science program. Master’s and/or CFRE Preferred.

  • Eight or more years in progressively responsible fund development activity. Strong public speaking background, as well as community relations, public relations and sales.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees, clients, managers, and the public.

  • Excellent computer proficiency. (MS Office – Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook)
