Vice President of Operations - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerset

Job Overview: The Vice President of Operations at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset provides leadership, direction, and vision for the organization. They are responsible for various administrative aspects of the hospital and related entities, ensuring compliance with system objectives while enhancing patient care quality and delivering fiscally prudent healthcare services to meet community needs. The VP reports safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.

The VP of Operations oversees operations and strategic planning in areas including Radiology, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Construction, Plant Operations, Food & Nutrition, Patient Transport, Laundry, Security, Emergency Management, Wound Care, and Laboratory services.

Reports to: The Chief Administrative Officer at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Health Administration or related field preferred; Bachelor's required
• At least ten years of relevant experience, including five years in managerial roles within an acute care hospital setting

Essential Functions:

• Communicates organizational plans internally and externally
• Defines patient care goals and scope of services
• Participates in defining the organization’s mission, vision, and values
• Collaborates on strategic, operational, and space planning
• Assesses patient and customer needs in planning processes
• Engages in decision-making with organizational leaders
• Articulates initiatives and objectives at all levels
• Supports strategic and operational needs of the organization
• Promotes the organization’s Vision and Mission
• Participates in hospital operations at the senior management level
• Develops community engagement strategies
• Evaluates departmental performance and recommends improvements
• Designs services aligned with community needs
• Fosters communication within the organization and community
• Ensures compliance with policies, laws, and regulations
