Position Summary

The Vice President of Business Operations is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of all aspects of the Reading Royals' business operations. This position, in conjunction with the General Manager, will act as a key liaison to the Reading Royals hockey team staff and the American Hockey League to ensure all regulations and required operational procedures are met. The role involves establishing strategies and providing leadership to achieve revenue goals and the overall success of the team.

This position offers an annual salary of $65,000-$80,000 and is bonus eligible.

Benefits for Full-Time roles include: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

This position will remain open until August 22, 2025.

About the Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The arena hosts a variety of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family-friendly events, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Responsibilities
  • Build and manage the hockey operations annual budget, including revenues and expenses, season forecasting, monitoring, and approving expenditures, and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Manage and oversee ticket sales and marketing efforts for the Reading Royals.
  • Oversee the selection, training, and motivation of all sales and marketing personnel.
  • Create and implement the annual sales plan, including season tickets, group sales, specialty packages, renewals, and new business development.
  • Oversee the marketing plan, advertising, public relations, and game presentation.
  • Act as the public face of the team and drive community relations and outreach efforts.
  • Develop sponsorship asset grids and oversee activation of sponsorship deals.
  • Work with the American Hockey League to ensure compliance with regulations and operational procedures.
  • Manage a team of 10+ employees dedicated to the Reading Royals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, business administration, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of management experience in sales and marketing, preferably with a professional hockey team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of ticket sales programs, marketing, advertising, sponsorship development, public relations, and website/social media management.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and publishing software.
  • Experience with media buying, promotions, and event management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, and extended days as needed.
