Job summary

The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh seeks a visionary Vice President of Advancement to lead enterprise-wide philanthropy efforts, expanding resources and external partnerships in alignment with the organization's strategic plan.

Responsibilities include developing comprehensive fundraising strategies, managing major gift portfolios, and driving campaigns while partnering with the CEO and Board to foster donor-centered philanthropy and long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Non‑Profit Management, Communications, or related field.
• Master’s degree and/or CFRE or comparable fundraising certification (preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in fundraising and advancement leadership.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading senior‑level teams.
• Demonstrated success securing major and principal gifts and managing complex campaigns.
• Strong experience in pipeline development, portfolio management, and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Experience partnering with boards and collaborating across organizational functions.
• Excellent relationship‑building and donor‑centered fundraising, an inclusive workplace, and the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive, enterprise-wide advancement strategy across annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and campaigns.
• Manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects and donors with the President & CEO and Board involvement.
• Identify and secure corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities and strategic relationships.
• Lead and develop a high-performing advancement team with clear roles and accountability.
