You will report to the COO and shape the go‑to‑market strategy, building a high‑performing team across product marketing, customer marketing/referrals, and demand generation while remaining hands-on with execution.

The role emphasizes turning customers into growth via referrals, driving cross‑sell opportunities, and measuring success

Qualifications

  • 8-12+ years of B2B marketing experience focused on SMB buyers
  • Services or insurance-adjacent background is a strong plus; PEO experience welcome but not required
  • Comfortable using AI as a tool to work faster and make better decisions

The Perks!
  • Compensation: $200,000 - $260,000 salary, based on experience
  • Health insurance 100% paid by employer for both employee and family

A Day in the Life of the VP of Marketing

This is a true player-coach role for a marketing leader who wants to build something from the ground up. Reporting directly to the COO, you'll partner closely with sales and operational leadership to shape and execute the company's go-to-market strategy. You'll also build out a high-performing team spanning product marketing, customer marketing/referrals, and demand generation, all while staying hands-on with the work yourself.

Responsibilities include:
  • Building a scalable demand engine through state- and vertical-specific marketing programs, targeted campaigns, compelling content, optimized landing pages, and outbound initiatives
  • Accelerating broker channel growth by developing marketing strategy and enablement programs, including sales collateral and co-marketing campaigns
  • Turning satisfied customers into a growth engine through referral programs, case studies, advocacy initiatives, and NPS-driven outreach
  • Writing copy, building campaigns, and leading by example through hands-on execution
  • Partnering closely with sales and product teams to align priorities and improve results
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 8-12+ years of B2B marketing experience focused on SMB buyers
  • Services or insurance-adjacent background is a strong plus; PEO experience welcome but not required
  • Comfortable using AI as a tool to work faster and make better decisions, not just for chat
  • Strong strategic thinker who has built go-to-market strategies tailored to different verticals and audiences
  • Data-driven and comfortable with pipeline, conversion rates, CAC, LTV, and payback period, with a track record of connecting marketing performance to revenue
  • A builder at heart who focuses on outcomes over activity, not someone who solves problems by hiring agencies
  • Measures success in closed-won revenue, not MQLs
About the Hiring Company:

For more than 30 years, our client has partnered with small to medium-sized businesses to provide Payroll, HR, Workers' Compensation, and Benefits solutions. Their mission is to support clients so they can focus on growing their businesses without getting bogged down in employee administration.
