Vice President, Los Angeles

Application Deadline: 29 October 2026

Department: Business Growth

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Los Angeles

Compensation: $140,000 - $145,000 / year

Description

This is a high-profile opportunity to represent London on the international stage and drive economic growth across one of the most influential regions in the United States. Leading London & Partners’ business development activity across the Southwest US, you will build strategic relationships with investors, business leaders, entrepreneurs and key stakeholders to attract investment into London and support London-based companies to expand internationally.

Acting as London & Partners’ senior representative across major US markets, you will identify opportunities in high-growth sectors including technology, life sciences, financial services, green innovation and the creative industries, positioning London as a leading destination for business, innovation and investment. Through a combination of strategic relationship management, market insight and commercial acumen, you will help generate tangible outcomes that contribute to London’s long‑term economic success.

Working closely with senior leaders, partners and government stakeholders, you will lead market engagement strategies, represent London at high‑profile events, and create valuable connections between UK and US business ecosystems. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business development professional and leader to make a significant international impact while championing one of the world's most dynamic cities.

Key Tasks

Lead London & Partners’ presence across the Southwest United States

  • Act as the senior representative and subject matter expert for London & Partners across Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Salt Lake City.
  • Develop and maintain a clear strategy for engaging each market, identifying the sectors, companies, investors and institutions where London can have the greatest impact.
  • Provide senior‑level insight on the business environment, economic trends and opportunities across your territory to the Director of North America and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Represent London & Partners at senior business, investment, technology and economic development events.
  • Build a highly trusted network of senior executives, investors, entrepreneurs, government leaders and ecosystem influencers.

Grow investment into London

  • Develop a targeted strategy for attracting foreign direct investment from your territory into London. This will span creative, deeptech, enterprise technology, experience economy, financial services, green innovation, and life sciences.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with companies considering international expansion, positioning London as a leading destination for growth. Manage senior relationships with prospective investors through the decision‑making and landing process.
  • Plan and deliver senior‑level investment events, delegations and programmes where they can create meaningful opportunities for London.

Help London companies grow internationally

  • Support ambitious London‑based companies looking to enter or expand within the US market through the Grow London Global program. This will span creative, deeptech, enterprise technology, experience economy, financial services, green innovation, and life sciences.
  • Build relationships with US corporations interested in working with innovative companies from London.

Build strategic partnerships

  • Develop long‑term partnerships with organisations that can extend London & Partners’ impact across the territory.
  • Support visits by the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor for Business and other senior London stakeholders to your territory.

Lead and develop the team

  • Provide leadership to the Business Development Manager supporting the sub‑territory.
  • Manage the regional business development and operational budgets, ensuring resources are focused on the opportunities with greatest potential impact.
You’ll have/bring
  • Senior relationship builder. You have experience developing trusted relationships with senior executives, investors, entrepreneurs, government representatives and other influential stakeholders. Comfortable walking into a room where you may not know anyone and leaving with relationships that matter.
  • Strategic thinker. You can see beyond individual opportunities and understand the broader economic, commercial and political context in which businesses operate. Able to decide where to focus your time and resources, develop a strategy and then make it happen.
  • Commercially minded. You understand how organisations grow and how business decisions are made. Comfortable identifying opportunities, developing relationships, influencing decision‑makers and converting conversations into tangible outcomes.
  • Credible communicator. You are confident representing an organisation at senior level and speaking with authority to a range of audiences. Experience speaking at conferences, moderating discussions, presenting to executives or representing an organisation in the media.
  • Connector and collaborator. You enjoy bringing people together and creating opportunities that would not otherwise exist. Equally comfortable working independently and collaborating with colleagues across a geographically dispersed organisation.
  • Experienced leader. You have experience managing, mentoring or developing people and understand how to create an environment in which experienced professionals can do their best work. Lead through clarity, trust and good judgment rather than micromanagement.
  • Passion for London. You have a genuine interest in London and understand what makes the city distinctive as a global centre for business, technology, investment, culture and innovation.
  • Comfortable with travel. The role is based in Los Angeles but covers a broad territory. Regular travel to Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Salt Lake City will therefore be an important part of the role, alongside occasional travel elsewhere in North America and to London.
  • Experience in international business, economic development, foreign direct investment or international trade promotion.
  • Established relationships within technology, financial services, life sciences, creative industries, sustainability or other high‑growth sectors.
  • Experience representing an organisation publicly through events, conferences, media or industry forums.
  • People leadership experience.
