Job summary

ModMed is seeking a Vice President, Government Affairs to lead government affairs, public policy, and regulatory advocacy for our health IT, EHR, and AI portfolio. The role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and shapes policy strategies, relationships with regulators, and industry coalitions to influence policy impacting our products and customers.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in government affairs, deep healthcare technology policy knowledge, and a proven ability to translate policy

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, public affairs, or related external affairs roles, with healthcare/AI tech focus.
  • Experience developing and executing federal and/or state government affairs strategies and engaging with policymakers and regulators.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare technology policy, AI regulation, privacy, interoperability, and health IT policy.
  • Experience representing an organization with government officials, associations, coalitions, or external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing external consultants, lobbying firms, or policy advisors.
  • Exceptional strategic judgment, executive communication, policy analysis, relationship management, negotiation, and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute enterprise government affairs and public policy strategy across federal and state environments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with federal/state policymakers, regulators, and agencies (ASTP/ONC, HHS, CMS, FTC, FDA).
  • Lead regulatory and legislative advocacy, coordinating policy positions and initiatives.
  • Advise CLO, C-suite, Product, Engineering, and Compliance on policy implications and business strategy.
  • Develop industry coalitions and represent the company in external policy initiatives.
  • Direct and manage external lobbying firms and policy advisors.

The role is responsible for establishing the company's government affairs agenda, anticipating emerging policy risks and opportunities, and positioning the company as a credible and influential voice in the development of healthcare technology and AI policy.## ## **Primary Duties & Responsibilities:****Government Affairs & Public Policy Strategy*** Develop and execute the company's enterprise government affairs and public policy strategy across federal and state legislative and regulatory environments. Establish policy priorities related to health IT, EHR certification, artificial intelligence, ambient clinical intelligence, health data privacy, interoperability, information blocking, healthcare reimbursement, and other issues affecting the company's products and customers. Anticipate emerging policy developments and proactively develop strategies to influence outcomes.**Federal & State Government Relations*** Build and maintain senior-level relationships with federal and state policymakers, regulators, and government agencies, including ASTP/ONC, HHS, CMS, FTC, FDA, congressional committees, state legislatures, state agencies, and other relevant government stakeholders. Represent the company's interests in meetings, briefings, policy discussions, and other government engagements.**Regulatory & Legislative Advocacy*** Lead the company's response to proposed legislation, regulations, guidance, and policy initiatives affecting healthcare technology and AI.
