Job description

Addison HVAC is seeking a highly accomplished Vice President of Finance to serve as a strategic and operational finance leader for the business. This executive will be responsible for the full finance function while acting as a trusted partner to the leadership team in driving profitable growth, operational excellence, and improved business performance.

The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of operational finance, commercial finance, and controllership, with the ability to move seamlessly between strategic decision-making and the details of business performance. This leader will use financial and operational insights to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, improve processes, and help the organization make better and faster decisions.

Beyond technical and financial expertise, the successful candidate will be an intellectually curious, hands‑on leader who asks thoughtful questions, digs beneath the numbers to understand root causes, and continually looks for ways to improve how the business operates.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Finance
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and strategic financial partner to the President and functional leaders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Addison’s operations, customers, products, markets, and value drivers.
  • Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights that improve profitability, productivity, working capital, and overall business performance.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling.
  • Partner closely with operations to improve visibility into manufacturing performance, including labor, material, overhead, productivity, inventory, capacity, and cost variances.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs and operating metrics that increase accountability and enable better decision‑making.
  • Identify performance gaps, determine root causes, and partner with leaders to develop and execute corrective actions.
Commercial Finance
  • Partner with commercial leadership to support profitable revenue growth and stronger decision‑making.
  • Provide financial leadership around pricing, margins, customer and product profitability, mix, contracts, and commercial investments.
  • Develop tools and analytics that provide greater visibility into customer, product, and channel economics.
  • Support pricing strategies and evaluate opportunities to improve price realization and margin.
  • Provide financial analysis for new business opportunities, customer proposals, investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Bring a disciplined financial perspective to growth decisions while maintaining a strong commercial mindset.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for accounting, financial reporting, controls, compliance, and financial integrity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies and standards.
  • Provide leadership around cash flow, working capital, inventory, capital expenditures, and balance sheet management.
  • Partner effectively with internal and external audit resources as appropriate.
  • Ensure the finance organization provides reliable, consistent, and decision‑useful information to business leaders.
Process & Continuous Improvement
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement within finance and across the broader organization.
  • Evaluate existing financial and business processes and challenge legacy practices when better approaches are available.
  • Simplify, standardize, and automate processes to improve speed, accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.
  • Improve forecasting, reporting, analytics, and management operating rhythms.
  • Leverage systems, technology, and data to reduce manual work and increase the finance team's ability to provide forward‑looking insights.
  • Apply a continuous‑improvement mindset to identify root causes and create sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing finance organization.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and priorities while empowering the team to make decisions and solve problems.
  • Assess organizational capabilities and build the talent, processes, and infrastructure required to support future growth.
  • Develop finance talent and create meaningful opportunities for team members to expand their business and leadership capabilities.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships and establish finance as a trusted, solutions‑oriented partner throughout the organization.
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a well‑rounded finance executive with significant experience supporting a manufacturing or operationally complex business. They will combine strong financial fundamentals with commercial instincts and a genuine interest in understanding how the business works.

They should be equally comfortable discussing accounting and controls with the finance team, manufacturing performance with operations leaders, and pricing and profitability with commercial leadership.

Most importantly, this individual will bring curiosity, leadership, and a continuous‑improvement mindset. They will naturally ask why, challenge assumptions constructively, dig into the drivers behind performance, and continuously seek opportunities to make the organization better.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Significant progressive finance leadership experience, ideally within industrial manufacturing, HVAC, engineered products, or another operationally complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience across operational finance, FP&A/commercial finance, and controllership.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing economics, cost accounting, inventory, working capital, and operational performance.
  • Experience partnering with sales/commercial teams on pricing, profitability, margin, and growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success improving financial processes, systems, reporting, and analytics.
  • Track record of building and developing high‑performing finance teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear business insights.
  • Executive‑level communication skills and the ability to influence across functions and levels of an organization.
