Job summary

The University of Miami seeks an experienced real estate leader to manage university-owned properties, oversee campus development, and coordinate leases, acquisitions, and project delivery for UHealth/MSOM facilities.

You will drive value across assets, lead master planning, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with government authorities to advance university development goals.

Responsibilities

• Markets university-owned properties held for resale, manages and/or disposes of donated properties.
• Buys strategic properties and manages all leases for university campuses.
• Supports special real estate projects from due diligence to pricing strategies.
• Negotiates contracts for leases, sales and purchases of real estate.
• Develops and maximizes value of university-owned real estate assets.
• Develops master plans for campuses and oversees zoning and land-use studies.
• Oversees design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the UHealth/MSOM campus.
• Ensures proper planning and management of campus infrastructure and utilities.
• Obtains necessary government approvals for real estate and development plans.
• Oversees campus parking, signage and commuter relations.
• Provides full property maintenance services for infrastructures and grounds and ensures internal controls.

Job description

1. 1. Markets university-owned properties held for re-sale, manages and/or disposes of donated properties, buys strategic properties, and manages all leases for all University campuses.
2. 2. Acquires and/or provides support for special real estate projects, including due diligence, ranging from market value assessment to marketing strategy development and pricing strategies for such diverse projects as: multi-million dollar sales of raw land or under-developed properties; analyzing lease vs. buy decisions; and structuring offers.
3. 3. Negotiates contracts for leases, sales, and purchases of real estate as well as disposition of donated assets.
4. 4. Develops and maximizes the value of all university-owned and operated real estate.
5. 5. Develops master plans for all campuses and oversees development regulations affecting campus development such as zoning, land use, etc., including special studies and reports in support of campus development.
6. 6. Manages the design and construction of new facilities as well as maintenance of the facilities at the UHealth/MSOM campus. Responsible for equitable resource procurement and personnel management.
7. 7. Ensures proper planning, execution, and management of the infrastructure maintenance of the campus chilled water, water, sewer and storm drainage, as well as other utilities in the most cost effective manner.
8. 8. Serves as the University’s lead officer in obtaining government approvals for real estate and development plans. Works closely with appropriate municipal, state and federal government officials as may be required.
9. 9. Oversees the management of the UHealth/MSOM campus parking and transportation department, parking/permit system, signage, and commuter relations.
10. 10. Provides full property maintenance service for all infrastructures, facilities and grounds, such as repairs, maintenance and replacement services for facilities.
11. 11. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.
