• Experience embedding AI tools into engineering organizations.
• Background in fintech / payments is required.

Responsibilities

• Set the multi-year engineering roadmap and lead modernization toward cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven architecture.
• Define how the engineering function builds, scales, and operates across a portfolio of platforms.
• Reduce technical debt while preserving delivery velocity and product quality.
• Champion modern engineering practices across architecture, development lifecycle, and release management.
• Serve as technical authority across engineering disciplines and guide architecture decisions.
• Lead design reviews and ensure solutions meet security, performance, and compliance requirements (PCI, SOX, SOC).
• Own engineering execution for revenue-generating platforms and align with product leaders on roadmap and delivery.
• Establish KPIs across delivery predictability, reliability, quality, and customer impact.
• Drive on-time delivery across multiple initiatives and programs.
• Lead AI-enabled engineering practices, including code generation, automated testing, and DevOps optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Strategy and Platform Modernization

• Set the multi-year engineering roadmap and lead a foundational shift toward cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven architecture across the organization
• Define how the engineering function builds, scales, and operates across a portfolio of integrated technology platforms
• Drive meaningful reduction of technical debt while preserving delivery velocity and product quality
• Champion modern engineering practices across architecture, development lifecycle, and release management

Hands-On Technical Leadership

• Serve as the technical authority across engineering disciplines, engaging directly in architecture design, platform decisions, and major incident response
• Partner with senior architects and engineers to define and execute toward a target-state platform architecture
• Lead design reviews and ensure solutions meet security, performance, and compliance requirements including PCI, SOX, and SOC frameworks

Product and Platform Delivery

• Own engineering execution for the company's revenue-generating platforms, partnering with product and business leaders on roadmap alignment and delivery planning
• Establish and enforce KPIs across delivery predictability, system reliability, product quality, and customer impact
• Drive high-quality, on-time delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives and cross-functional programs
• Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices across the organization, including code generation, automated testing, and DevOps optimization
• Partner with data and AI teams to embed intelligent capabilities into products and internal operations
• Build the culture and tooling that turns AI investment into measurable gains in developer productivity and time-to-market

Organization Building and Talent Development

• Lead, scale, and develop a global engineering organization of engineers, architects, QA professionals, and DevOps engineers
• Build a strong leadership bench through deliberate hiring, coaching, and performance management
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

Operational Excellence and Governance

• Own the engineering budget, vendor strategy, and resource allocation
• Build performance management systems and dashboards tracking delivery, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Ensure the organization maintains compliance with applicable regulatory and security frameworks

Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including VP-level or equivalent senior leadership
• Proven track record leading and scaling engineering organizations through transformation or significant platform modernization
• Strong experience delivering cloud-based, SaaS, or platform-oriented products in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
• Deep command of cloud-native, API-first, and event-driven architecture, with the ability to guide architectural direction at a senior level
• Experience embedding AI tools and practices into engineering organizations, both at the platform and developer productivity level
• Background in fintech / payments is required
• Hybrid role with regular presence at a U.S. office required
