Job summary

Metro Credit Union in Massachusetts is seeking a Vice President, Controller to lead the accounting function and a team of up to eight professionals, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls to support the CFO and Board.

You will drive continuous improvement of processes and systems, partner with auditors and regulators, and guide talent development while responsibly leveraging AI tools where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA and/or master's degree strongly preferred.
• Experience leading accounting in a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, including a team of eight accounting professionals.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, internal controls, and meaningful financial insights for the CFO and Board.
• Partner with the CFO, executive team, auditors, regulators, and Board committees on key financial matters.
• Support investment accounting, liquidity management, and asset-liability management activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and technology adoption, including responsible use of AI tools where appropriate.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the accounting function, including a team of upwards of eight accounting professionals.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strength of internal controls, and delivery of meaningful financial insights that support executive and Board decision-making.
• Partner with the CFO, executive team, auditors, regulators, and Board committees on key financial matters.
• Support investment accounting, liquidity management, and asset-liability management activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and technology adoption, including responsible use of AI tools where appropriate.

The successful candidate will bring:

• Significant accounting leadership and management experience within a financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, process improvement, and communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively with executive leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• CPA and/or master's degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000, plus additional benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors, including role scope, responsibilities, experience, and internal equity.
