Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) seeks a Vice Chairperson of Emergency Medicine for NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. The role leads clinical, academic, and administrative functions and reports to the Department Chair.

Core duties include supervising staff, guiding resident education, and driving quality and safety initiatives while maintaining active clinical practice in a major urban ED.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership across clinical, operational, administrative and academic functions.
• Experience supervising and mentoring Attending Physicians, PAs, and NPs.
• Leadership in quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.
• Ability to collaborate with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
• Core faculty for residency education and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Vice Chairperson of Emergency Medicine and lead across clinical, operational, administrative and academic functions.
• Oversee daily Emergency Department operations, implement policies, address challenges for high-quality care.
• Supervise, evaluate, and mentor Attending Physicians, PAs, and NPs; support faculty development and recruitment.
• Lead departmental quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
• Partner with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams to advance goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Represent the Department on committees and participate in education and scholarly activities.
• Maintain active clinical practice providing high-quality emergency care.
