Job Overview

The Department of Psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, appoints a Vice Chair for Clinical Programs & Network Affairs to provide current and future‑focused clinical and academic leadership across the Department’s psychiatric clinical enterprise and to represent the Department across BIDMC‑affiliated institutions and the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) network.

Responsibilities
  • Direct departmental clinical services, set strategic vision across inpatient, emergency, consultation‑liaison, outpatient, addiction, interventional, and specialty psychiatric programs, and oversee operations of acute and intensive psychiatry services.
  • Lead the development and advancement of the Department’s clinical strategy and partner with operational leaders for program management, quality, safety, and regulatory functions, providing senior strategic oversight to align services with departmental priorities and system goals.
  • Drive innovation, scalability, and cross‑institutional integration to support high‑value, equitable, patient‑centered psychiatric care across the continuum.
  • Design and evaluate emerging models of care, facilitate alignment with institutional and system priorities, and address workforce and system demands.
  • Report directly to the Chair, serve as a member of the Department’s Executive Leadership Team, and provide ongoing clinical care in acute and intensive settings consistent with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $248,000 - $273,000. The base pay range reflects the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, the role may be eligible for performance‑based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality. HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
