Job Overview

Inpatient Psychiatrist – Department of Psychiatry, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The role involves comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and clinical leadership on an adult inpatient psychiatry service within a major teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments of patients presenting with a broad spectrum of acute psychiatric disorders.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions.
• Assess safety and risk, and coordinate discharge planning.
• Collaborate closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
• Consult with medical services and collaborate with community clinicians to ensure continuity of care across treatment settings.
• Lead and participate in direct clinical teaching, case conferences, didactics, and scholarly mentorship of psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
• Engage in academic activity and participate in the educational and research missions of the department.

Qualifications

• MD from an accredited medical school.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Psychiatry.
• Valid Massachusetts medical license.
• Substantial psychiatric knowledge base and excellent clinical abilities.
• Demonstrated expertise in assessment and treatment of patients with psychiatric illness in acute care settings.
• Strong psychopharmacology skills and knowledge of evidence‑based psychiatric treatments.

Benefits

Pay range: $223,000 – $243,000. Base compensation may be adjusted based on academic appointment, experience, specialty training, geography, productivity, and role expectations. Eligible for performance‑based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality.
