UC San Diego School of Medicine in the Department of Urology seeks a Benign Urology Translational Researcher to serve as Vice Chair of Basic & Translational Research. The appointee will coordinate Genitourinary Microbiome research across conditions such as nephrolithiasis, incontinence and oncology, while promoting collaboration and translating science to bedside care.

The role includes mentoring faculty and trainees, developing a core curriculum, and securing extramural funding.

• Demonstrated ability to secure peer‑reviewed funding.
• Proven track record leading translational research initiatives.
• Experience translating discoveries into clinical practice.
• Mentor faculty and trainees for independent investigations.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate research in the Genitourinary Microbiome across nephrolithiasis, incontinence, prolapse, strictures, infertility, prosthetics, biofilm and oncology.
• Foster cross‑departmental collaboration (SIO, engineering, data sciences).
• Develop a core research curriculum for trainees and lead didactics.
• Establish independent peer‑reviewed funding and support PI submissions.
• Translate scientific discoveries to bedside applications and scholarly practice.
