Job summary

Austin VROC in Austin, TX is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant or Technician to support outpatient care and surgical teams. You will collate patient histories, communicate with clients, and assist surgeons on receiving days with consultations and exams, ensuring compassionate care throughout each patient’s stay.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records in Ezyvet, handling pre-operative procedures, anesthesia induction, and post-operative recovery support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years veterinary assistant/technician experience.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and patient records.

  • Assist surgeons on receiving day with consultations and exams.
  • Maintain exceptional care and client communication throughout patients’ stay.
  • Obtain health history from clients and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Utilize Ezyvet to document consultation findings, diagnoses and action plans.
  • Prepare quotes and verify invoices for proposed procedures.
  • Clearly communicate surgery expectations to clients before, during and after procedures.
  • Ensure pre-operative procedures and tests are conducted, including diagnostic imaging.
  • Maintain sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Place catheters, induce anesthesia, intubate animals and monitor vitals.
  • Assist in preparing animals for surgery and during anesthesia recovery.
  • Assist kennel personnel in keeping patients clean and dry.

  • Assist the surgeons on receiving day to conduct consultations and physical exams.
  • Maintain superlative care and client communication throughout all patients’ stay.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and▹ maintain accurate medical records.
  • Utilizes Ezyvet to document surgeons’ consultation findings, diagnoses and action plans.
  • Prepare quotes and verify invoices for proposed procedures.
  • Clearly communicate expectations and requirements for surgery to clients before, during and after procedures.
  • Ensure all pre-operative procedures and tests are conducted including collection of diagnostic imaging – radiographs and CT scans.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Place catheters, administer induction anesthesia, intubate animals and monitor patients’ core vitals prior to surgery.
  • Assist in preparing animals for surgery prior to moving into the operating room.
  • Assist in monitoring animals during anesthesia recovery.
  • Assist kennel personnel in keeping patients clean and dry at all times.
  • Preferred 4 years of experience as a veterinary assistant or technician.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medicine and patient record keeping standards.
