Job summary

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician Trainer to blend clinical hands-on work with building training programs. You will mentor new hires and partner with leadership to elevate clinical care.

The role focuses on developing training, coaching on the floor, and coordinating with ER supervisors to implement education strategies.

Qualifications

• RVT/CVT/LVT licensed veterinary technician required.
• Minimum 2 years in emergency or specialty service.
• Patience, flexibility, and constructive training style.
• Ability to guide and train staff effectively.
• Positive attitude and leads by example.

Responsibilities

Emergency Veterinary Technician Trainer at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center

About the Role

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is looking for an Emergency Veterinary Technician Trainer. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands‑on clinical experience with the chance to directly influence how our team learns, grows, and delivers care by building training programs, mentoring new hires, and partnering with leadership to raise the bar for clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating, monitoring, and documenting training activities
• Supporting ER and ICU team members
• Participating in staff and training meetings
• Working on the floor alongside new assistants, RVTs, and students
• Working through training protocols with the ER supervisors, and Director of Patient Care
• Helping facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding
• Training new hires on company policies and procedures
• Gathering and evaluating feedback from employees on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas needing additional training, then developing a training outline/plan to address them
• Holding regular check‑ins with new staff to monitor progress
• Informing employees of scheduled training and tracking their progress
• Setting up and participating in training wet labs
• Developing training classes at the request of leadership, with assistance from the appropriate department, to meet the needs of the facility

Requirements

Schedule

Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts or 5 x 8 hour shifts Schedule will be flexible to accommodate the training needs of the ER/ICU department.
