Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Appleton, WI is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for our Emergency and Critical Care department.

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician, ER/ICU Department

Shifts: 9-hour shifts, 11pm-8am, third shift, every other weekend required

Pay Range CVTI-II: $21.00 - $33.50/hour

*Dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and competency assessment

Competitive Shift Differentials: Earn more with shift differentials:

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p-8a): $3.50
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a-6p): $3.50
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p-8a): $5.00

Responsibilities:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia; operate anesthesia/monitoring equipment
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure
• Perform digital radiography with proper positioning
• Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, ultrasonography
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
• Calculate medical math, administer medications appropriately
• Perform phlebotomy, place intravenous catheters
• Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC, and central line catheters
• Mentor and train team members, address client concerns with patience and empathy
• Stay current on CPR guidelines; ALS and BLS certification provided
