Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA seeks a skilled Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our brand new hospital. This full-time role supports anesthesia, triage, radiography, and critical patient monitoring in a fast-paced setting.

The position offers competitive hourly pay with shift differentials and a strong emphasis on staff development through CE, mentorship and leadership opportunities within Mars Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

• Experience as an emergency veterinary technician or similar role in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia with equipment.
• Proficiency in radiography, vital signs monitoring, and CPR.
• Comfort with phlebotomy, IV catheters and critical patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and assess vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify arrest risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Administer meds via correct routes and durations; calculate dosages.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters; venous access care.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled & compassionate veterinary technician on our Emergency team. Come join our brand new hospital in Framingham, MA!Schedule: 3-12 hour swing shifts shifts 9am-9pmPay: $24.25 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. We Also Offer Competitive Shift Differentials For Eligible Hours Worked For Nights And Weekends. Shift Differentials Are Based On a 4-hour Minimum. For Example

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
