Job summary

Ottumwa Family Animal Care is seeking a Veterinary Technician to assist veterinarians and other staff with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and help with surgeries.

The role also involves preparing prescriptions, in-house lab work, client education, and maintaining inventory. Pay is $17–$18 per hour with a $250 sign-on bonus after hire and another $250 after 90 days.

Weekend work may be required; prior veterinary experience is preferred, and lifting up to 25 pounds is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with patient care and surgical procedures.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab testing; prep specimens for external labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians.
