Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by TEA or regional accrediting agency).
• One year of animal health care assisting a veterinarian, animal control or animal care experience.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarian in restraining animals for clinical examination.
• Lift and carry animals up to 50 pounds; assist with team lifts for heavier animals.
• Perform emergency first aid and monitor animals during procedures.
• Screen animals for sterilization surgery and collect blood/other samples as needed.
• Bath, dip, and dry animals; prepare and sterilize surgical packs; schedule surgeries.
• Assist in anesthesia administration, monitoring, and recovery; assist in incisions and closures.
• Scrub and disinfect instruments; examine animals before discharge and advise owners on post-surgical care.
• Assist in training staff on basic responsibilities and animal handling; maintain medical supply inventory.
