Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Veterinary Surgical Scrub Technician to join our specialty Surgery team at Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. This hands-on OR role supports surgeons and anesthesia professionals, maintaining sterile technique and efficient case turnover.

You will scrub in, hand instruments, prepare rooms, and collaborate with veterinary technicians and staff. We value organization, reliability, and a commitment to patient care and ongoing

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary or surgical experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, and OR procedures preferred
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Able to maintain focus and sterile technique throughout procedures
  • Dependable, accountable, and proactive
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgical team
  • Strong interest in developing advanced surgical assisting and instrumentation skills
  • Commitment to excellent patient care
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub in and directly assist surgeons during surgical procedures
  • Maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments, implants, and supplies
  • Assist with patient positioning, surgical preparation, and draping
  • Prepare operating rooms for scheduled procedures
  • Pull and organize surgical packs, instruments, implants, and specialty equipment
  • Assist with efficient operating room turnover between cases
  • Clean, inspect, package, and sterilize surgical instrumentation
  • Monitor sterilization processes and maintain required documentation
  • Maintain surgical supply and implant inventory
  • Identify damaged or malfunctioning instruments and equipment
  • Communicate equipment, inventory, and supply needs to leadership
  • Work closely with surgeons, Veterinary Technicians, assistants, anesthesia staff, and other specialty departments
  • Support training and development of new team members as you grow in the role

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is hiring a Veterinary Surgical Scrub Technician to join our specialty Surgery team in Wilmington, NC. This is a hands‑on operating room role for someone who enjoys veterinary surgery, takes pride in organization and efficiency, and wants to develop specialized skills while working alongside experienced surgeons and anesthesia professionals.

Responsibilities
