Job summary

Chilhowee Veterinary Clinic in Maryville, TN is seeking a Veterinary Technician to assist veterinarians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, manage supplies, and support surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate has experience with surgery and anesthesia monitoring; weekend hours are required on alternating Saturdays; strong communication and teamwork are essential in this caring animal hospital.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability is required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Familiarity with PPE and OSHA safety practices.
• Strong communication skills with clients and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in practice and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital laboratory testing.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Clean and restock exam rooms and equipment; maintain clinical areas.
• Demonstrate warmth, professionalism and compassion with clients and patients.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
