Job summary

Chilhowee Veterinary Clinic in Maryville, TN is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in medicine and surgery, monitor anesthesia, and educate clients. The role requires weekend availability on alternating Saturdays and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with OSHA safety practices in daily duties.

The ideal candidate will have experience with surgical procedures, excellent communication, and basic math for dosage calculations, along with familiarity with MS Office to assist

Qualifications

• Experience with surgery and anesthesia monitoring.
• Willingness to work every other Saturday.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with equipment.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math for calculating medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as required.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under veterinarian direction.
• Restock and clean treatment areas; maintain equipment and supplies.
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians and clients about patient plans and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
