Job summary

Chilhowee Veterinary Clinic in Maryville, TN is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in patient care, anesthesia monitoring and hospital procedures. The role includes assisting with surgeries, taking histories and vital signs, and educating clients to promote excellent animal health.

The ideal candidate has prior veterinary experience, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and is available for weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Weekend work availability required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in clinical and surgical tasks as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take radiographs following safety procedures; restrain animals as needed.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian.
• Maintain clean and organized exam, treatment, and lab areas.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members.
