Job summary

SFAS is seeking a veterinary technician/assistant to support veterinarians in medical and surgical treatments, handle intake and data entry, and educate the public on animal health. You will assist with radiographs, vaccinations, and maintaining clinic and kennels cleanliness, with 10–20% time supporting the Medical Director in scheduling and process improvements.

Experience as a veterinary technician/assistant is required; high-volume clinic and shelter experience is preferred, with LVT/RTV/CVT

Qualifications

• Excellent computer proficiency; Chameleon experience a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a positive attitude.
• Sense of urgency, attention to detail, and flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks per instructions.
• Flexible scheduling to meet clinic needs.
• Spanish speaking ability a plus, but not required.
• Previous veterinary medical technician/assistant of four years duration required.
• Experience in a high volume clinic and shelter preferred.
• LVT/RTV/CVT a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical treatment of animals.
• Intake animals and enter data into the shelter system following proper protocols.
• Educate the public on animal health while demonstrating SFAS policies.
• Ensure humane care and keep the clinic and kennels clean.
• Assist with intake, surgery, laboratory diagnostics, radiographs, animal restraint, vaccinations, and keeping the clinic and kennels clean.
• 10-20% of time assisting Medical Director with staff scheduling, inventory control, drafting & updating processes, and corrective actions for employees.
