BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $20 - $40 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our CareerTrax leveling system.

Schedule: 4 x 10 hour shifts. Anesthesia On-Call Required.

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Preferably, candidates will have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia protocols, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and maintain anesthetic equipment.
• Conduct physical exams, accurately recording vital signs and alerting the doctor to abnormalities.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRIs, and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
• Have experience with ASA III-V cases and anesthetic ventilator cases.
• Continuously expand knowledge and skills, including advanced anesthetic techniques such as epidurals and difficult airway management.
