BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh North is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $21.10 - $40.60 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends, based on a 4-hour minimum.

Examples of shift differentials:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for post-operative client communication and must work independently while contributing to a team. Preferably, candidates have at least two years of veterinary hospital experience. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs, alerting the doctor to abnormalities.
• Set up and administer intravenous and subcutaneous fluids, troubleshoot pumps, and monitor patient response.
