Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery department. The candidate will manage ASA III-V cases, administer TIVA or partial TIVA, place arterial lines, and assist with triple lumen placements.

You will monitor anesthesia, perform IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and post-operative care, while maintaining accurate records and client communication.

Qualifications

• Experience with anesthesia and analgesia protocols in a veterinary setting.
• Ability to manage ASA III-V cases and advanced anesthesia techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exams; monitor pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vitals and alert doctor when abnormal.
• Set up IV fluids and CRIs, operate fluid pumps, troubleshoot errors.
• Expand knowledge with advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Take patient through pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery; manage appointments, histories, invoicing, discharges.
• Monitor patient response to fluids and signs of overload.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery department in Levittown, PA! *This role requires someone who can manage sit ASA III-V cases, TIVA or partial TIVA, place arterial lines, and place triple lumens.*

Pay: $24.93 - $44.91 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.00/hr. Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's, operate all brands of fluid pumps and can trouble shoot errors.
• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Comfortable with medical math.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
