Position Overview

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. Sign-on bonus for qualified CVT, LVT, RVT, LVMT, VTS and experienced veterinary assistants. Pay: $21 - $42 / hour, starting point dependent on experience and advancement through competency leveling. Requires at least two years veterinary hospital experience and a rotating on call schedule after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exam and accurately count heart, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the veterinarian when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Disconnect and reconnect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
