Stryker Corporation is seeking a Veterinary Technician - Surgery in Austin, TX to join our care team. This full-time role involves assisting surgeons, managing anesthesia monitoring, patient care, and supporting daily hospital operations to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians in delivering high-quality care and educate clients.
  • Maintain medical charts and patient history; ensure efficient flow.
  • Perform blood draws, radiographs, Doppler checks, catheter placements.
  • Induce, maintain, and recover anesthesia per protocols.
  • Greet clients, take history and vitals; provide post-procedure care instructions.
  • Maintain sterile environments and safe restraining techniques.
  • Explain long-term care plans and support owners.
  • Support team with daily, weekly, monthly tasks; keep clean practice.

Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Austin, TX

Schedule

Full‑time. Monday‑Thursday or Tuesday‑Friday 7:30am‑5:30pm. One Saturday per month and on‑call duties required.

Compensation

Negotiable based on experience and credentials. Expected starting range: $24‑32 per hour. Final pay considers skills, qualifications, experience, and location. On‑call procedures may earn bonuses.

About You

As a Surgery Technician, you’ll support board‑certified surgeons with procedures, diagnostics, recovery, and anesthesia monitoring while maintaining a safe, sterile workflow. You’ll also assist with day‑to‑day hospital operations, provide excellent patient and client care, and support your team through both technical and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians in delivering high‑quality care, advocating for pets, and educating clients.
  • Maintain accurate medical charts, obtain client history, and ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Perform blood draws, radiographs, Doppler blood pressure checks, and catheter placements.
  • Induce, maintain, and recover anesthesia following surgical suite protocols.
  • Greet clients, take history and vitals, and provide clear post‑procedure care instructions.
  • Ensure clean, sterile environments, safe restraining techniques, and proper disposal of medical supplies.
  • Explain long‑term care plans and provide compassionate support for pet owners.
  • Support supervisors and teammates with assigned daily, weekly, and monthly tasks while maintaining a clean practice.
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with a board‑certified surgeon or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced skills in safe restraint and patient care.
  • Advanced skills in anesthesia protocols, induction, monitoring, ventilator, and recovery.
  • In‑depth understanding of operating room protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm in high‑pressure situations.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical: able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with patients and owners.
  • Works well both collaboratively and independently.
  • Maintains a professional and resilient attitude under pressure.
