Job summary

BluePearl is hiring a Veterinary Technician Supervisor for our Surgery Department at our Tukwila, WA hospital. The role is 80% technician duties and 20% administrative/leadership work, with a focus on advanced skills and team coaching in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation includes a pay band of $30.22–$47.30 per hour, plus competitive shift differentials for nights and weekends. This position supports ongoing leadership development and program participation within Mars Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
• Leadership experience preferred.
• 80% technical duties, 20% administrative/leadership work.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced proficiency within the department and maintains related skills.
• Technician supervisor will have 75% of time spent on the floor.
• Coaches the supervised team for strong performance and productivity in patient care.
• Mentors lower-level staff by modeling good work habits and clinical skills.
• Facilitates ongoing communication with hospital leadership and teams.
• Implements process improvements to enhance service delivery.
• Organizes technician and assistant meetings with leadership.
• Works with trainers to schedule team training.
• Identifies conflicts and helps resolve them for teamwork.
• Provides performance feedback to leadership and assists with improvement plans.
• May assist leadership in scheduling and recruiting.

BluePearl is hiring a Veterinary Technician Supervisor for our Surgery Department at our Tukwila, WA hospital!

Veterinary Technician Supervisor Pay: $30.22 - $47.30 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

Shift Differentials

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Must be able to work weekends and dayshift with a possible occasional swing shift as determined.

Preferred candidate profile is someone who has 4+ years of experience as an LVT and ideally some leadership experience. This role will be 80% tech duties, 20% administrative/leadership work.

Veterinary Technician Supervisor Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced proficiency within their appropriate department and maintains all related skills and knowledge.
• Technician supervisor will have 75% of time spent on the floor.
• Creates effective working relationships with hospital leadership to facilitate communication of ideas, policies, standards and performance.
• Coaches supervised group for strong performance and productivity in the delivery of medical services to patients.
• Serves as a mentor to lower-level staff by demonstrating positive work habits, effective clinical skills and business knowledge.
• Facilitates an environment of ongoing communication and feedback.
• Implements process improvement initiatives that remove barriers to excellent service.
• Coaches team members to be continuously aware and proactive at anticipating and addressing patient and client needs and to seek assistance with escalated, stressful situations.
• Works with hospital leadership to organize Veterinary Technician and Assistant meetings.
• Works with the Trainer Coordinator to organize training schedules for team members.
• Identifies conflicts in the workplace and seeks assistance in resolution in order to create effective working relationships.
• Provides feedback related to team performance to hospital leadership and works with them to develop performance improvement plans.
• May work with hospital leadership to create schedule for Veterinary Technicians and Assistants.
• May assist hospital leadership in recruiting.
• Performs annual review of team members.
