Job description

VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital is growing! We are currently seeking a Technician Supervisor to work in General Practice at our busy, 24-hour emergency/referral/multi-specialty and general practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

You will be supporting our leadership team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our patients and clients. In addition, you will help direct and grow our team of veterinary technicians while enjoying exposure to a diverse and stimulating caseload. As a member of the VCA family, your passion for medicine and compassion for pets and people is matched with a commitment to your professional growth. Day to day responsibilities of the technician supervisor include:

  1. Overseeing the technicians and assistants
  2. Staff scheduling
  3. Hiring and training of new employees
  4. Collaborating with the doctors
  5. Establishing the daily schedule
  6. Working to develop protocols to continually improve the quality of medicine

The individual in this role will also work closely with the technician supervisors in all other departments. Essential skills for the technician supervisor include:

  1. Venipuncture
  2. IV catheter placement
  3. Medication administration
  4. Pharmaceutical knowledge
  5. Basic radiology skills
  6. The ability to stay calm and multi-task with a high case load
  7. Delegating and supervising subordinates
  8. Hiring, training, and development of staff

Candidates for this position must have prior supervisory experience, be organized, flexible, willing to work toward conflict resolution, and able to work independently in addition to being a team player.
