Qualifications

• Qualified veterinary technician with anesthesia experience.
• Ability to provide nursing care and monitor anesthesia for surgical patients.
• Comfortable with critical patients and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Anesthesia capable for critical patients
• Ability to troubleshoot
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids
• Administer subcutaneous fluids
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Comfortable with medical math
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Comfortable with intubation, prepping patients for surgery
• Disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

As An Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, You Will
