Job summary

The McConnell Group, Inc. (TMG) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to support small animal community practice services in Tuskegee, Alabama. You will provide hands‑on clinical care in a teaching environment and collaborate with veterinarians, interns, students, patients, and clients.

Ideal candidates are service‑oriented, organized, and committed to animal welfare and client service; prior clinical or teaching experience is valued for supporting both patient care and instruction.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent.
  • Current Alabama veterinary technician license, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • At least one year of veterinary practice or academic veterinary technician experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, computer, and clinical record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities while also functioning as part of a multidisciplinary veterinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with veterinarians, students, interns, coworkers, and animal owners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily care, safe handling, restraint, observation, and clinical monitoring of small animal patients.
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic sample collection, medication administration, anesthesia monitoring, pain‑management activities, CPR, and other clinical procedures.
  • Prepare for and demonstrate veterinary technical skills for students and interns, including medication delivery, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, bandaging, and patient monitoring.
  • Coordinate patient flow and scheduling while maintaining accurate medical records, supplies, and inventory for the community practice service.
  • Maintain treatment areas, community practice equipment, and related clinical spaces in a clean, organized, and service-ready condition.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients, document observations, and promptly communicate changes in patient status to the appropriate veterinary staff.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and support discharge education, home‑care instructions, and follow‑up information as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Participate in clinical or academic rounds and contribute to a learning environment that supports the development of veterinary students and rotating interns.
  • Follow applicable hospital safety, infection‑control, accreditation, animal‑care, and regulatory requirements, including standards associated with AAHA, IACUC, USDA, OSHA, and AVMA‑COE.
  • Provide support to other veterinary services when workload and available resources permit, and perform other related duties as assigned.

(TMG), a health science company and provider of clinical and research support services, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to support small animal community practice services in Tuskegee, Alabama. This role provides hands‑on clinical care in a collaborative veterinary teaching environment and works closely with veterinarians, interns, veterinary students, patients, and clients. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, organized, comfortable supporting both patient care and clinical instruction, and committed to high standards of animal welfare and client service.

Duties & Working Conditions

Requirements
Skills/Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to walk short distances, remain active throughout the workday, and lift or carry routine parcels, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to use standard office and clinical equipment and to view and enter information in computer‑based records.
Schedule / Travel:
  • Position is based in Tuskegee, Alabama; routine travel is not expected.
  • Work may include nights, weekends, or after‑hours coverage based on clinical service needs.
