Job summary

Animal Hospital of Las Cruces in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a Veterinary Technician- Relief to support veterinarians in delivering high-quality care. You will assist with outpatient treatments, lab tests, and client education, helping maintain smooth patient flow and accurate medical records.

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required.
• 1+ years of clinical experience.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Proficient with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and injection administration.
• Full knowledge to set up and position patients for digital radiographs.
• Experience with in-house labs and cytology tests.
• Proficient with anesthesia, surgery, and dental prophylaxis.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in line with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed technicians.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems support.
• Obtain health history from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques; keep areas, rooms, and labs clean and sterile.
• Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements

Role Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
