BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician. The role involves anesthesia management, triage of emergencies, and 24/7 patient care in a new facility. Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 is offered based on experience and credentials.

Compensation ranges from $24.25 to $49.00 per hour with shift differentials for nights and weekends; VTS credentials can yield commensurate compensation. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician or eligible for licensure in MA.
• Experience in emergency or overnight care preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and triage critical cases.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and manage anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals including heart/resp rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert veterinarian to changes.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer meds appropriately.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy; manage feeding tubes/central lines.
• Mentor and train other team members; provide compassionate client care.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled & compassionate veterinary technician on our Overnight Emergency team. Come join our brand new hospital in Framingham, MA!

This position is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials.

Schedule:

3-12 hour shifts

Pay:

$24.25 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differentials for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
