Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a skilled veterinary technician for our Overnight Emergency team. Join our brand new hospital and help triage, monitor anesthesia, and care for emergency patients around the clock.

Qualifications

• Must be a skilled and compassionate veterinary technician.
• Experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.
• Experience triaging emergency cases and monitoring vitals.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co‑workers.
• Show patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.

Key Incentives

• Sign‑on bonus up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials.

Schedule

3‑12 hour shifts

Pay

$24.25 – $49.00 per hour plus competitive shift differentials. Pay band depends on experience and competency assessment. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. Shift differentials apply to eligible nights and weekends:

• Mon – Fri: 6 pm to 8 am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8 am to 6 pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6 pm to 8 am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

Continuing Education Plan

$500 yearly reimbursement for CVT and $750 yearly for VTS. The allowance may roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non‑credentialed, full‑time paraprofessionals are eligible for a $150 annual CE stipend. Full‑time CVT associates receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year; full‑time VTS associates receive 12 hours yearly. Paid CE hours can be carried over up to a maximum of 24 hours year to year. Newly hired associates receive a pro‑rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
